Western Electric 161C

Western electric 161C, 5 cent automatic prepay. One of the first payphones or paystations manufactured by Western Electric. Unlike the 161A this model is unique with many changes from those manufactured by Gray. The hook is steel and the contact setup is totally different, this is the way the contact pileup remained until just before the end of Western Electric 3 slot production. Equipped with WE 2 coil relay and 706 receiver and the 635 "bulldog" transmitter.
