Gray Western Electric 50-G 7 Transition loc R7-3
Gray #50G, 5 cent prepay automatic payphone or paystation. This antique telephone was made for the Bell System, it is equipped with Western Electric coin relay, dial, receiver & transmitter. The upper, lower and backboard are cast iron. Note the early vault door with the keyhole positioned further left of center than most others, the opening is of a different shape as well. Also note the 1B instruction card holder. There is a bronze name plate over the vault door as the early 50A has. There are iron or steel supports added to the lower part of the vault to strengthen it. The back is early with no ferrels and the coin box is an early type 1A. View my related article Gray 50G
