Gray 8A
Gray #8A, 5 cent coin collector. This is a rather rare model, it mounts via the mounting plate to the back of a wall telephone. It has an early metal directions sign. When the operator was called to make a call she would have the caller drop a nickel in the single slot. The coin would fall hitting a bell, the sound would resonate from the collector through bracket and to the phone where it would be picked up by the transmitter so that the operator could hear it.
